Emergency Neurological Life Support
Satellite Meeting
The Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) Course is an educational program designed to help healthcare professionals improve patient care and outcomes during the critical first hours of a patient’s neurological emergency. In 2019, ENLS is being run as a satellite meeting of the 2019 PA Anaesthetic Conference: PAnaesthesia.
Curriculum
Facilitator: Dr Danielle Crimmins
The ENLS course will be held at the Translational Research Institue (TRI) on the PA Hospital Campus. Nestled within TRI, a centre of academic excellence, the course features 14 modules. Each module provides a consistent set of protocols, practical checklists, decision points, and suggested communication to use during patient management of neurological emergencies.
Module topics include:
- Acute Non-Traumatic Weakness
- Acute Ischemic Stroke
- Airway, Ventilation and Sedation
- Approach to Comatose Patient
- Intracerebral Haemorrhage
- Intracranial Hypertension and Herniation
- Meningitis and Encephalitis
- Pharmacotherapy
- Rescuscitation Following Cardiac Arrest
- Spinal Cord Compression
- Status Epilepticus
- Subarachnoid Haemorrhage
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury
Designed for all members of a multidisciplinary care team, including:
- Physicians
- Nurses

- EMTs
EARN CME
This activity is designated for a maximum 15 (ENLS) or 8 (recertification) AMA PRA Category 1 CME, ANCC, ACPE, and CAPCE credits upon completion.

The course will take place during the allotted PAnaesthesia workshop session (2pm to 4.30pm Saturday & Sunday 12 & 13 October, 2019). Registration fees for ENLS will also include the option to join PAnaesthesia delegates for lunch from 12.30pm both days. A complimentary cocktail function will also follow the Saturday session.

If attending lunch, please arrive at 12.15pm to check in for a 12.30pm lunch start. If only attending the course, please arrive at 1.45pm for a 2pm start.
