Research and quality improvement are key pillars essential to maintaining clinical excellence and innovation.

This award provides a platform by which junior medical staff can showcase their achievements in this area.

Submission Guidelines

Applicant must be a Medical Student, Intern or Resident. All finalists are expected be registered to attend the conference (heavily discounted rates apply granting full conference access).

Applicant must have made a significant contribution to the project.

Submission of original 300 word abstract (maximum) detailing a recent anaesthetic research or quality assurance/improvement project. Full study outlines must be available at the time of submission; abstracts stating “results to be presented” will not be considered.  

Entries will be adjudicated by the PWA Panel and finalists will be contacted and invited to present their project live at the conference. Each finalist will be allocated 12 minutes to present their project, which will involve a 7-minute presentation followed by 5 minutes Q&A from the Panel. Finalists will present in person at the Translational Research Institute.

Projects will be evaluated by panel and scored against the following criteria; original design, quality, clinical impact and presentation.

The winning presentation will receive the Peter Moran Award & a Cash Prize to the value of $300.
